Smart Finance and the Future Economy: Ethics, Digital Society and Global Markets

Drawing on key ideas from economics and philosophy, the course helps students understand not only how markets work, but also how individuals, businesses and governments make decisions under uncertainty, competing interests and ethical constraints. Students will explore how technology, data, artificial intelligence, financial innovation and geopolitical developments are reshaping business, trade, investment and economic policy.

Inspired by the interdisciplinary spirit of Philosophy and Economics, the course encourages students to approach real-world economic and social issues from multiple angles. While economics remains a central component of the programme, students will also be introduced to philosophical tools such as ethical reasoning, decision theory, fairness, responsibility and the evaluation of public choices.

Human Minds, Artificial Agents: The Psychology of Human–AI Interaction

This interdisciplinary course explores how human behaviour, cognition, and decision-making are evolving in an AI-enabled world. Drawing upon psychological theories and behavioural science, students will examine how intelligent technologies influence individual behaviour, social interaction, consumer decisions, and digital wellbeing. Rather than focusing on programming or algorithm development, the course introduces AI from a human-centred perspective, helping students understand how behavioural insights can be applied to contemporary challenges in business, public policy, healthcare, education, and digital society.
Through lectures, case studies, discussions, and project-based activities, students will develop a practical understanding of the relationship between psychology, behavioural science, and emerging technologies.

Requirements

  • Standardized Test Scores: IELTS 6.0, TOEFL iBT 80 (pre-Jan 2026)/ 4.5 (post-Jan 2026), or equivalent.
  • Complimentary Interview: Applicants without standardized scores may contact a program consultant to arrange a complimentary online or telephone English interview. Admission eligibility will be granted upon successful completion.

Fee

Register by Nov 1, 2026 (23:00 Beijing Time) to receive an early-bird discount, which can be combined with the ASEEDER scholarship.
