Advancement System: Open Round-Semi Finals-Final Round

Program Introduction

The International Research Olympiad (IRO), founded at Harvard University, is a global research competition for Secondary school students worldwide. The first competition, successfully held in 2024, garnered overwhelming interest with over 1,000 students interested from over 45 countries around the world.

Unlike traditional science olympiads, IRO encourages students to think divergently across various research disciplines. Through this, participants foster a deeper understanding of the scientific process and build overall creativity, critical thinking, and analysis skills, forming a foundation for later success. In September 2024, the IRO Organizing Committee officially establishes a strategic partnership with ASEEDER to organize the "International Research Olympiad (IRO)" in the Greater China region. The program is dedicated to honing analytical and critical thinking, and scientific communication skills for student researchers, allowing young researchers to walk away with a deeper passion for scientific inquiry, and even opportunities to advance to the global finals at Harvard University!

FAQ

1. Can I register if I am interested in any subject?
Yes! The IRO fosters a culture of rigorous research and skill-building, not just memorizing formulae, including critical thinking, English reading, and the ability to comprehend and absorb new knowledge. The answers can be found within the research papers provided in the exam, so a deep background knowledge is not required. It is recommended that students access research papers before the exam to familiarize themselves with their structure and writing style. Therefore, students proficient in any subject are welcome to join
2. Does the organizing committee provide academic training before the IRO begins?
The committee will provide official sample questions and papers during the Open Round and Semi-Finals. However, to maintain fairness and consistency with the global rules for young scholars, the committee will not offer further academic training or guidance.
3. How can I obtain more sample papers?
Before registration, you can find free sample questions on the ASEEDER website, the official WeChat account, and the Research Space Station service account. After registration, a complete set of sample papers will be provided in the participation notification email. You can also contact your liaison for more information.
