School of Continuing and Lifelong Education

Science Discovery Camp Epidemiologist For A Week

Biomedical science is currently one of the most sought-after professions, and epidemiology plays a crucial role in global health, public health policies, and
medical research, aiding humanity in better understanding and addressing the challenges posed by various diseases. This course will guide students to explore multiple topics, including cell molecular biology, bioinformatics, experimental principles, and mathematical modeling in epidemiology. They will gain insights into how viruses enter hosts and interact with host cells, the pathways of infectious disease transmission, host characteristics, and environmental factors, thereby enhancing their understanding of the current phase of epidemiology.

The Human Puzzle: Unravelling the Mysteries of the Mind

Psychology is a discipline that studies human thought, emotions, and behaviour. In this course, students will explore the crucial role of cognitive processes in human behaviour, emotions, and interpersonal relationships. Through the method of dichotomous comparisons, students will differentiate fundamental concepts such as nature versus nurture, automaticity versus control, gaining an understanding of the impact of psychology on human perception, behaviour, and decision-making. Students will attempt to analyse the underlying reasons behind human behaviour using the knowledge acquired, stepping beyond.

Media Communication and Marketing

Today in both corporate and public sectors, social media and public relations indispensable strategic tools. However, many brands still struggle to attracting audiences via media. With substantial investments in time and resources, and the pressing need to leverage social media's potential, organizations must optimize their efforts. PR crisis management is vital for organizations under public scrutiny. Amidst 24/7 global news and heightened public engagement, organizations confront a chaotic whirlwind of public opinion, where their responses can determine brand survival. However, many remain unprepared for crisis PR. This course will equip students with an understanding of the challenges and tasks they'll face in a PR role, along with the planning process for crisis communication.

Age: High school students (15 years old and above)
Quota: 40 students per subjects

Requirements

  • English language level equivalent to IELTS level 6.0 or TOEFL 80
  • phone/online interview with an ASEEDER staff member is required if no valid language test results are submitted.

Fee

  • Includes: tuition, corporate visit, cultural exploration fees; ASEEDER group leader service fee; local transportation fees of cultural exploration and corporate visit; international insurance fees; learning materials fees.
  • Excludes:
  • accommodation fees, shuttle fare between the hotel and campus and between the hotel and airport
  • * optional logistics booking service: including shuttle fare(only applicable to designated group coach), double room bed (shared) with breakfast in a 4-star hotel, room is limited.
    If you opt out of the logistics service package, please note that minors in Singapore require adult accompaniment for hotel stay.
  • international transportation costs to and from Singapore (departure and arrival from one or multiple cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen or Hong Kong, you can use a third-party service or ASEEDER' s unified service);
  • the food expenses during the stay in Singapore(SGD 15-20 per meal)
