Introduction

The British Psychology Olympiad (BPO) is a psychology challenge event organized by Minds Underground (MU) and ofcially recommended by the University of Oxford. The event aims to provide a platform for high school students worldwide to engage in psychology discussions, ignite their interest in psychology, develop research and critical thinking skills, showcase their research abilities and writing skills.

Congratulations for your excellent performance and successful advancement in the 2025-2026 BPO National Round! We sincerely invite you to participate in the 2026 BPO Summer School at Oxford, to be held on the campus of Oxford in the UK from August 6-15, 2026! The program includes in-depth visits to psychological landmarks, an immersive "studying at Oxford" experience, a deep exploration of psychology, a rich learning experience, and comprehensive support for applications to prestigious universities worldwide, including Oxford University and Cambridge University.

During the Summer School, students will stay at Pembroke College, a historic Oxford college founded in the 14th century. Its dormitories offer top-notch living facilities, creating an excellent environment for study. The college's gardens and lawns provide a serene space for relaxation.

During the Oxford Psychology Summer School, students attend courses at the Blavatnik School of Government, Oxford. The school was honored with a RIBA National Award in 2016, signifying its status as one of the UK’s most esteemed architectural achievements. Students will have a unique learning experience that is both visually impressive and academically rigorous.

The University of Oxford, established in 1096, is one of England's oldest and most prestigious universities. It's globally recognized as a leader in higher education and academic research, often hailed as a "world-class university" and designated as one of the UK government's "elite" institutions.

During the first four days of the 2025 BPO Summer School at Oxford, students will join their group leader for visits to the Freud Museum, the British Museum, the London Bridge and Big Ben, the Bethlem Royal Hospital, and the University of Cambridge.

“Oxford Immersion” Learning Adventure

During the five-day course of the BPO Summer School at Oxford, students will participate in 30 hours of psychology courses led by MU’s expert mentors, replicating an “Oxford experience” from dorms to classrooms. The teaching fellows hailing from the organizing entity MU are a team composed of over 700 Oxbridge and Ivy League alumni.
Whether they are Oxbridge graduates distinguished by numerous accolades or honorary scholars who have published multiple papers, they will provide an unparalleled learning experience and ignite extraordinary intellectual potential for the students!

Tutor Rhiannon

  • ● Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery, University of Warwick, and 1st Class in Experimental Psychology, University of Oxford.
  • ● Rhiannon has a range of experience in both a psychological and medical capacity, including work in the Oxford Perception Lab on Stargardt disease and with mental health charity, Restore.
  • ● Rhiannon currently works as a doctor, holding a Psychiatry Foundation Fellow position.
  • ● Rhiannon is a highly experienced tutor of Psychology and Medical Sciences, including preparing students for university applications.
     

Tutor Daniyal

  • ● Cambridge medic, with a First-Class Honours BA in Physiology, Development and Neuroscience, also from Cambridge University (ranked 7th in entire year/ Academic Scholar).
  • ● Specialism in Developmental Neurobiology; Molecular and Cellular Neuroscience; Neuronal Plasticity, Modulation and Behaviour; Pathophysiology of Cancer
  • ● Daniyal is a Supervisor of Psychology and Behavioural Studies undergraduates at Cambridge University, with a focus on neuroscience and statistics and was asked to be an examiner this year.

Tutor Luke

  • ● Graduated from the University of Oxford with a degree in Experimental Psychology and Philosophy..
  • ● Specialized in Social Psychology and Developmental Psychology, with research extensively focusing on language and its relationship with thought, particularly in the intersection of psychology and philosophy.
  • ● Studied under renowned psychologist David Clark - one of the pioneers of cognitive behavioral therapy and an expert in depression and anxiety treatment.
  • ● Has over eight years of experience in guiding applications for psychology programs at Oxford, Cambridge and other top universities.

This summer program integrates cutting-edge topic knowledge, in-depth study of college-level psychology, comprehensive exploration of Oxford & Cambridge, academic project research, and teamwork skill development, aiming to cultivate key skills needed for future academic careers.

And while multiple treatment options now exist, there are still many unknowns. We will look at the nature and treatment of a range of mental health conditions, examine some new research, and think about what it may mean for the future of mental health.
