The University of Pittsburgh is a top-ranked, public institution in Pennsylvania and a member of the Association of American Universities of leading research universities. The University of Pittsburgh is ranked 45th in the 2022 U.S. News Global Ranking. (Note: Only four universities in China made it into the global top 100 of the 2022 U.S. News rankings, with Tsinghua University at 26th, Peking University at 39th, the University of Hong Kong at 72nd, and the Chinese University of Hong Kong at 82nd.)

The University of Pittsburgh credit college program is an official program offered by the University of Pittsburgh. It has a history of over 40 years in the United States. The program adopts a process assessment model and offers official university credits and transcripts from the University of Pittsburgh. The credits earned are transferable to more than 700 well-known universities in the United States, including Stanford University and Johns Hopkins University.

In 2023, the University of Pittsburgh established a strategic partnership with ASDAN China to offer the College Credit Program jointly. It opens with three courses: Introduction to Physics, Psychology, and Applied Statistics. This program offer students a chance to earn U.S. Universities credits in China.

Students that complete the Pittsburgh College Program will increase their chance of admission to an elite university by demonstrating that they have the ability to succeed in an academically rigorous college progra while still in high school.

University Credits

Students are eligible to earn an official transcript from the University of Pittsburgh, and the credits can be transferred to more than 700 universities in the United States, which enables students to save on tuition and course costs and increase graduation success.

Small Size Class

Most introductory classes in university can have anywhere from 150-300 studentsor more in a class. With our classes with a maximum of 20 participants, students can be assured that they will be a memorable face and not just a number.

Expert Faculty and Bilingual Teaching Assistants

The teaching faculties are experienced professionals trained by the University of Pittsburgh in relevant fields. Bilingual teaching assistants provide students with comprehensive support to ensure a positive learning experience and academic success.

Savings on Future Tuition

Based on the current tuition fees at US universities, a single credit can cost around $1,500. The program offers credits for only $245 per credit, and one course can be transferred for 3 to 4 credits at over 700 renowned US universities. This could potentially save students between $4,500 and $6,000 in tuition fees in the future.

Basic Applied Statistics

STAT 02004 Credits

Prerequisite: Two years of high school algebra are recommended.

Suitable majors: Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Psychology, Sociology, Biology, Computer Science, etc.

Grading: The grade is determined by the student's performance on two mid-term exams, a comprehensive final, and teacher evaluation.

Basic Physics for Science and Engineering

PHYS 01744 Credits

Prerequisite: Calculus is needed and should be taken at least concurrently. The laboratory course associated with this sequence is taken after Physics 0174.

Suitable Majors: Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, Architecture, Computer Science, Earth Science, etc.

Grading: The grade is determined primarily by three exams during the term and a cumulative final exam.Other work, such as quizzes and homework, may make some contribution to the grade.

*Approximately half of the class time each week is spent in covering new material. The remaining time is devoted to activities such as problem solving, demonstrating experiments, questions, and discussion.


Introduction to Psychology

PHY 00103 Credits

Suitable majors: Social Work, Education, Medicine, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Medical Assistant, Human Development, Public Health, Family and Child Studies, and other related majors.
Grading:
Grading will be based on scores from four exams. Five exams will be offered; the first four exams will be non-cumulative, whereas the fifth will be a cumulative final exam that can be used to replace a lower score on a previous exam. 5% of the grade will come from an essay expectation described below. Up to 10%of the grade may be based on assignments at the instructor's discretion.

Credits Transfer Explanation

To obtain official transcripts and credits from the University of Pittsburgh, students need to complete all sessions of the course in which they are enrolled and meet the assessment requirements of it.

*For more details on the assessment of each subject, please refer to the course outline.
*The credit transfer rules vary depending on the college (the school where credits are transferred to) and major. It is recommended that students inquire about the relevant policies of their target university before enrolling in the Pittsburgh College Credit Program to clarify whether the target university accepts credit transfers or any specific transfer requirements.

 

Credits Transfer Process

1.To obtain official transcripts and credits from the University of Pittsburgh, you need to complete all sessions of the course in which you are enrolled and meet the requirements of it.
*Transcripts can be tracked on Parchment.com. Costs of transfer credit are currently $245 per credit, payable directly to the University of Pittsburgh.

2.If you have earned college credit, please add the college information in Common Application when you apply.(Picture1)

3.After accepting the admission offer, you need to fill in and submit the transfer credit materials according to the requirements of the school you applied. (Picture 2)

4.Transcript/enrollment verification requests can be made through Parchment.com. The address of your ideal school is needed, so that the University of Pittsburgh can send your transcript or other record types to it.
*Mailing a transcript or proof of enrollment to each school is between $5 and $30. Sending two documents together is between $10 and $60 per school. These fees should be paid directly to the University of Pittsburgh.

5.The transcript will be sent to your ideal school so that they can verify and process the order. The credits will be transferred if the transcript is verified.

  • Excludes: round-trip domestic airfare, food expenses , and hotel accommodation expenses (optional).

Academic Standard

Psychology/Applied Statistics:
1. IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 90 or above, with grades of A or above in relevant subjects on the school transcript.
2. A recommendation letter from you teacher as a proof of your english ability. (No more than 2 recommended students in each course).
3. If you do not meet the above criteria, an english interview with an ASDAN China staff is needed.

Physics:
Students who wish to enroll in the physics course must meet the following two requirements simultaneously:
1.English:IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 90 or above or pass the english interview with ASDAN China staff.
2. Math and physics must meet the following requirements separately:

  • Math:A score of 4 in AP Calc AB or a 76 in ALKES Placement test (Calculus 1) *
  • Physics:A minimum of 40% on the Force Concepts Inventory (FCI)*

*The cost for the ALEKS assessment is 20 US dollars. Students can purchase the account for evaluation or have ASDAN China buy it. Regardless of whether the assessment is passed or not, the assessment fee cannot be deducted from the project registration fee.
*ASDAN China organizes the FCI assessment, and students can participate for free.
