Introduction to HKUST

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) is a research-oriented university that focuses on science and technology. Introduction to Winter School at HKUST

The Winter School at HKUST is designed to offer outstanding high school students the opportunity to immerse themselves in the teaching methods and unique features of this leading Asian university. Students will have access to visit advanced enterprises or institutions in Hong Kong and delve into industry developments. The programme is delivered by HKUST's esteemed faculty members, who will guide students in exploring cutting-edge academic fields and broadening their disciplinary horizons. Furthermore, students will have the privilege of in-depth visits to prominent Hong Kong institutions such as SenseTime or the Hong Kong Productivity Council. Through these practical visits and professional coursework, they will gain firsthand insight into the pivotal role of high technology in driving enterprise growth. Upon successfully finishing the programme, students will be awarded a formal Certificate of Completion, attesting to their academic proficiency.

Professor Yang

Associate Professor, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, HKUST; Doctoral Supervisor; Director of HKUST-Smart Cities Project
Professor Yang was a postdoctoral fellow at Princeton University. He currently serves as the chair designate of the American Society of Civil Engineers' Greater China Section. His research spans a broad spectrum, encompassing urban meteorological disasters, sustainable urban development, building energy consumption simulations, and photovoltaic energy assessments. His work is not only of substantial academic significance but also offers practical solutions to enhance the sustainable development of cities.


Dr. Wang

Research, PhD, HKUST; Lecturer, HKU

Dr. Wang focuses on precise modeling and system optimization of brain-computer-interface–microfluidic integrations, advancing microscale fluid dynamics simulation and neural-feedback-controlled drug release. He has established a microfluidic–electrical-signal coupling framework, published high-impact SCI papers, filed Chinese national patents, and serves as a reviewer for multiple SCI journals.


Dr. Wang

PhD in Finance, HKUST
Dr. Wang’s research spans corporate finance, green finance, ESG disclosure and information asymmetry, and portfolio optimization. His doctoral thesis examines the short- and long-term drivers of corporate clean-energy investment; prior experience at a top-tier brokerage gives him solid industry insight.


Dr. Wang

PhD, Department of Mechanical Engineering, HKUST

Dr. Wang's research is primarily focused on lithium-ion solid-state battery electrolytes and interfaces, as well as the discovery of electrolyte materials through first-principles and machine learning approaches. He has authored numerous papers published in internationally renowned journals, including Nano Energy, and has delivered presentations at various international conferences. His work significantly contributes both theoretical and experimental insights to the advancement of lithium-ion battery technology.
