简介

The International Economics Olympiad (IEO), was organized by the International Olympic Academy and established in 2016 by the Institute of Economic Education (INEV).

Tailored for middle school students and high school students without restriction to the type of secondary education, the Economics Olympiad garners support both nationally and internationally from esteemed entities like the Ministries of Education, Greece Central Banks, Academic Institutions. The International Economics Olympiad has experienced remarkable growth since its inception, soaring from an initial 4,000 participants in 2017 to nearly 100,000 by 2024.

2020, ASEEDER has organized the International Economics Olympiad (IEO) in China and, in 2024, expanded to organize it in Asia.
Regional events select top economics students to represent their nations globally. In September 2024, the Chinese representatives won
two silver medals at the IEO held in Ancient Olympiad.

Procedures Introduction

International Economics Olympiad National Round consists of five rounds: Economic Challenge, Oral Exam,
Economic Quiz Bowl, Model World Bank and International Trade Challenge.

Format:Individual sessions and Team sessions

1.Individual

Economic Challenge

Individual written test, 2 rounds (45 minutes each round), each round consists of 4 modules:
• Economic Knowledge: multiple-choice questions
• Diagram analysis: short -answer questions
• Analytical essay: writing
• Financial analysis and calculation

2.Individual

Oral Exam

 
Individual presentation. Each student is required to give a presentation for no more than 5 minutes in English. The judge may ask follow-up questions. Presentation topics will be assigned in advance.
 
 

3.Team

Economic Quiz Bowl

Team, multiple-choice and short -answer questions.

Teams will race the clock to answer questions using a buzzer.

4.Team

Model World Bank

Team, role play, discuss and debate.

Each team will represent one country and engage in discussion and negotiations over a series of pressing issues.

5.Team

International Trade Challenge

Each team will represent one country and have own specialization. During this challenge, each team is required to form allies and maximize the countries' diversification.
