  Course Description 

■ Psychology(US NEWS #8)

This course offers an overview of key topics in psychology, including history, research methods, memory, child development, clinical and social psychology, and more. Students will acquire a fundamental grasp of psychological research methods and engaged in supervised individual research projects. Additionally, students will apply psychology concepts to real life such as analyzing characters, plots, and contexts in news, movies and TV shows. By the end of the course, students will be able to master core psychological concepts, distinguish between different psychological disciplines, discuss significant studies in the field and critically differentiate normal and abnormal psychological processes.

Dr. Katrina Monton

- Psychology Instructor at Columbia University, Ph.D. in Psychology, Columbia University

Dr. Monton is a psychology instructor at Columbia University, responsible for teaching Psychological Science and Social Psychology courses. She has been the instructor for the graduate course "Group Dynamics" over the past three years. Dr. Monton holds a Ph.D. in Social Psychology from Columbia University. She is also a clinical psychological counselor and serves as a visiting lecturer in Military Leadership and Social Psychology at the United States Military Academy at West Point. Dr. Monton has broad research interests, such as team development, leadership, organizational culture, psychological safety, and group dynamics.

 Accommodation 

Students will stay in Columbia University's student dormitories (single/double rooms).

* Students will be uniformly arranged to live in the dormitories. Generally speaking, they have no right to choose dormitories or change their dormitories at will.

Requirements:

  • English language level equivalent to IELTS level 6.0 or TOEFL 80
  • Recommendation letter from your teacher as proof of English proficiency, or a phone or online interview with an ASEEDER teacher (since the program is conducted entirely in English).

* Students who have received global or national awards in international mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, business, and English assessments organized by ASEEDER are given priority for admission.

Fee

Includes:

  • Tuition, accommodation (Columbia University student dormitory, single or double room), breakfast and lunch fees (excluding weekend excursions), extracurricular activities, exploration fees during the program; ASEEDER group leader service fee, drop-off and pick-up fees between the Airport and Columbia University, international insurance, and study materials.

Excludes:

  • International transportation costs to and from the Airport (departure and arrival from any of Beijing/Shanghai/Shenzhen/Hong Kong), you can use a third-party service or ASEEDER's unified service; please confirm with the responsible teacher at ASEEDER before purchasing tickets);
  • Dinner fee; lunch fee during weekend excursions.
