  Program Introduction 

The Oxford Summer School programme offers students aged 16-18 the opportunity to live and study in colleges of the University of Oxford for two weeks. Most courses are taught by expert tutors, offering many courses to choose from. The full programme, including accommodation and dining, takes place in Oxford. The main idea behind this programme is for young international participants to appreciate the essence of academics and British culture through learning and activities, and ultimately be awarded the official certificate and graduation report for their achievements.

As an exclusive partner, ASDAN China will pick a select few outstanding students to attend the Oxford Summer School Programme.

Racing Extinction: Climate, Politics & Global Leadership
Preserve life on planet earth as you collaborate in small groups to generate solutions to some of the most challenging issues facing humanity. This course exposes you to how the fields of climate science, politics, law, and leadership can work together to beat extinction.
Curing the Future: Medicine & Disease
Curing the Future exposes you to the fascinating world of medicine and disease, extending your prior knowledge and understanding of medical research and practice. You will gain insight into what it takes to work in the medical profession in the 21st Century.
Designing Tomorrow: Engineering & Technology
Designing Tomorrow provides you with an introduction to the emerging technology that is shaping the future. Providing a broad foundation into engineering principles and fields, it will inspire you to take on the future's grand challenges from alternative energy to advanced robotics and beyond.
Inventing the Future: Business, Innovation & Entrepreneurship
“Inventing the Future” will equip you with the skills, tools, and mindset to innovate and create the future. This comprehensive immersion into business principles, innovation methods, and entrepreneurial thinking will enable you to incubate your idea and accelerate it into a value creating business.
Law & Politics
Examine the interconnection of law and politics and take the first step to pursuing your legal career. Focused on emerging issues in these fields, the programme fosters discussion and debate through legal case studies and their ethical implications on issues ranging from human rights to globalization, terrorism, trade, protectionism, and access to resources.
Architecture & Design
Bring your design ideas to life at one of the richest artistic and architectural locations in the world. You'll apply the core principles of architecture, including planning, design and spatial mapping as you fast track your future to becoming a world-class architect.
Philosophy, Literature and Modern History
Delve into the minds of history's greatest thinkers and explore some of the most famous literary works of all time as you debate and analyze questions about existence, truth, beauty and ethics.
Experimental Psychology
Dig deep into the workings of the mind, and explore everything from psychological disorders, to how childhood attachments affect someone's future. Design your own investigations, network with experts, and explore the ethics of human psychology experiments.
Film Academy
Shoot, edit and screen your own short film on location at the University of Oxford. With Oxford University as your set—filming site of several scenes in the Harry Potter films, you will gain insights to film production and digital editing as you experience first-hand what it is like to produce a film.
Mathematics
Refine your mathematical abilities and numerical curiosity through an introduction to several different facets of modern mathematics. You will encounter important and interesting ideas in arithmetic, geometry, graph theory, logic, computer science and game theory.
Creative Writing
Practice challenging writing techniques and find your own 'voice' through which to express yourself and truly inspire your readers as you explore varied creative writing techniques to plan, draft, and edit your own short story.

Medicine
You will explore the skills and knowledge you need to become a successful doctor or nurse through a focus on human anatomy and physiology. Explore the basics of human anatomy as you identify different career trajectories in the exciting fields of medicine and healthcare. Expand your understanding of medicine through practical, hands-on medical simulations like cannulation, conducting a physical exam, applying splints and slings, and controlling external hemorrhaging. Investigate both the practice of medicine and biomedical research through speakers and visits to a university biomedical lab or research facility.
Engineering & Technology
The course provides you with a comprehensive introduction to the exciting career opportunities in engineering and technology. You will explore the fields of Civil, Mechanical, Biomedical, and Aerospace engineering as you survey emerging technical applications, from self-driving vehicles to space travel. Gain a practical foundation in the science of engineering through fun design simulations that provide a grounding in mathematics and physics. Learn to think like an engineer and strengthen your critical thinking, collaboration, problem solving, and creativity skills. Apply your skills in the ‘Mission to Mars Design Challenge’, where you will collaborate with your peers to propose engineering and technology solutions that will support the establishment of a colony on Mars.
Business & Entrepreneurship
The course provides you with a broad introduction to business, finance, and marketing. It equips you with the skills to innovate and successfully launch and manage your own business. Most importantly, you will develop the mindset to become a groundbreaking entrepreneur. Immerse yourself in the exciting world of innovation through compelling case studies on companies like Tesla and Tik Tok and profiles of leading innovators like Elon Musk and Steve Jobs. Take centre stage and apply your skills in the “Explore Business Shark Tank Challenge”, where you will collaborate with your peers to pitch a new business idea. Engage with real entrepreneurs who are leading new business ideas to success.
Creative Writing
Practice challenging writing techniques and find your own ‘voice’ through which to express yourself and truly inspire your readers as you explore varied creative writing techniques to plan, draft, and edit your own short story. Seek inspiration from your stunning surroundings on the campus of the University of Oxford, the city that inspired great writers including J R R Tolkien and Lewis Carroll. Experience an interactive and varied classroom environment that combines teacher-led experimental activities with interactive group work and workshopping, as well as giving time for individuals to work on their own writing.

【How to apply】

  • 13 - 15 year old: English language level equivalent to IELTS level 5.5 or TOEFL 70
  • 16 - 18 year old: English language level equivalent to IELTS level 6.5 or TOEFL 90
  • Recommendation letter from your teacher as proof of English proficiency, and a phone interview with an ASDAN staff member (since the programme is conducted entirely in English)
  • - Priority for awarded students from ASDAN STEM assessments

【Requirements】

  • To attend the summer programme for 13 - 15 years old, you must be 13 at the time of the programmes in 2023. (Birthday range: July 30, 2007 - August 31, 2010)
  • To attend the summer programme for 16 - 18 years old, you must be 16 at the time of the programmes in 2023. (Birthday range: July 30, 2004 - August 31, 2007)
  • There is a limited number of vacancies for each course, places are assigned on a first come, first served basis

  • Includes: Tuition, accommodation, breakfast, lunch for 13-15 years old students,dinner, activities, excursions fees;ASDAN group leader service fee; Local transportation fee between London airport and Cambridge; International insurance;
  • Excludes: International transportation costs to and from London (departure
    and arrival from Beijing/Shanghai/Guangzhou(Hong Kong), you can use a third-party service or ASDAN China's unified Service; Visa fee & visa service fee (2000 RMB); Lunch (participants are expected to provide their own lunch; various eateries are located around Oxford, suggested budget of 5-10/lunch)
